Sterling

Sterling has spent decades making rope for people who hang off it for a living. Rope access techs, rescue teams and arborists run Sterling lines because they handle predictably and hold up to hard use.

Why Sterling rope

Founded in 1992, Sterling Rope is an American rope manufacturer based in Biddeford, Maine. It produces ropes and life-safety equipment for rope access, rescue, climbing and arboriculture, with manufacturing in the USA and Canada.

Sterling's wider range includes static ropes, dynamic climbing ropes, arborist lines and accessory cord. Different constructions suit different tasks, so you can choose a line by its handling, stretch characteristics and intended use.

Our range includes Sterling HTP static rope. Its 100% polyester construction offers low stretch for applications such as rope access and rescue. Check the specifications and certification of your chosen rope against the requirements of your system.

If you want a rope with a long track record in technical work, Sterling belongs on the shortlist.

What sets our Sterling range apart

We are an independent height safety specialist. We stock Sterling because the rope performs, and we are not tied to any one rope maker.

We help you match rope construction, diameter and length to your devices and your job. For life-safety work, we will confirm the rope's certification suits your system before you buy. We work on rope ourselves, so the advice comes from rigging it.

Build the system: rope and cordage, prusik cord, abseiling descenders, rope jammers and rope cleaners.

How to choose the right Sterling rope for you

  1. Static or dynamic. Rope access, rescue and abseiling usually call for static or low stretch rope. Dynamic rope is for climbing where falls are part of the system.
  2. Diameter. The rope has to sit within the range your descender and ascenders are rated for.
  3. Length. Buy for the longest drop you work, plus the rope you need for rigging and anchors.
  4. Sheath and handling. Sheath construction changes how the rope feels in your devices and how it wears over sharp or abrasive edges. Tell us the work and we will suggest a line.
