Lanyards
Before choosing a fall arrest lanyard you should know – all lanyards are not created equal. A fall arrest lanyard for working in an EWP or boom lift is very different from one that a tower climber might use. Height Dynamics offer a full range of rated and tested fall arrest lanyards for all applications.

Why the right working at height lanyard matters
Different lanyards do different jobs and they are not interchangeable. A fall arrest lanyard has an energy absorber to reduce the force of a fall. A restraint lanyard keeps you short of the edge or inside an EWP basket so a fall cannot start. A work positioning lanyard holds you in place to work hands-free. In webbing, rope, elasticated and wire rope builds, with single or twin tails and hooks to suit the anchor. The job decides the type.
How our lanyards are different
We are an independent height safety specialist, so we stock lanyards chosen for real work, from trusted brands rather than whatever one supplier pushes.
Every lanyard is built to the relevant Australian Standards for its role, across fall arrest, restraint and positioning, with the connectors and lengths the work calls for. And because we work at height ourselves, we can help you match the type, length and hooks to your task, your anchor and your fall clearance.
Browse by type: fall arrest lanyards, single tail lanyards, twin tail lanyards, work positioning lanyards, and scaffold hooks.
How to choose the right lanyard for you
- Start with the duty. Fall arrest, restraint or positioning. Each needs a different lanyard, so be clear what the task calls for before anything else.
- Single or twin tail. A twin tail keeps you connected while moving between anchor points. A single tail is simpler for fixed positions.
- Length and fall clearance. For fall arrest, confirm there is enough clearance below for the lanyard and absorber to do their job. Shorter is often safer.
- Hooks and material. Match the hook to the anchor, scaffold tube needs a scaff hook, and pick webbing, rope, elasticated or wire rope for the environment.
FAQs about Working at Height Lanyards
What are the main types of lanyards for working at height?
Fall arrest lanyards with energy absorbers, restraint lanyards that stop you reaching a fall hazard, and work positioning lanyards that hold you in place. Each suits a different task.
What lanyard do I need for a boom lift or EWP?
The usual setup in a boom lift is a harness with a short restraint-style lanyard clipped to the basket's designated anchor point, so the operator stays in the basket. Check the machine's requirements and your site rules, and ask us if unsure.
When would I use a steel or wire rope lanyard?
Where the environment chews through webbing, hot work, sharp edges and abrasive conditions. Wire rope lanyards trade some weight and flexibility for durability.
What is an energy absorbing lanyard?
A fall arrest lanyard with a built-in absorber that tears out under load to reduce the force on your body in a fall. It is standard for fall arrest duty.
Can you help me pick the right lanyard?
Yes. Tell us the task, the anchor and the clearance below and we will match the type, length and hooks to the job.
