Why a tower rescue kit matters
Tower work puts people high, exposed and often a long way from outside help. If a worker falls and is left suspended, suspension trauma makes every minute count, so the crew on site has to be able to reach them and bring them down. A tower rescue kit packages that capability: a descent and rescue system with the rope, connectors and hardware to connect to a casualty and lower them under control. On telecom towers, tower cranes and other high structures, it is the difference between a plan on paper and a rescue that actually happens. The gear is one half. How to choose the right tower rescue kit for you
- Length for the structure. The rope has to cover a descent from the highest point you work at, with margin. Size the kit to your tallest tower, not your average one.
- Match the scenario. A telecom tower, a tower crane and a wind structure present different access and casualty pickup problems. Start with what your crew actually faces.
- Pre-rigged kit or components. A pre-rigged kit deploys fast under pressure. Components let you tailor the system. Many teams run a kit as the baseline.
- Train on it. A rescue kit only works if the crew can deploy it quickly. Choose gear you will practise with, and practise.
