What big carabiners are actually for
A larger carabiner gives you a wider gate opening (easier to clip multiple items or thick anchor points) and a bigger, easier-to-handle body. That makes them popular for gear organisation, bags, staging and display, as well as heavier-duty clipping tasks. The catch: size and strength are not the same thing, so it pays to check the specs of each product.
Rated vs non-rated
Not every large carabiner is built to take a load. Many oversized and "giant" carabiners are accessory clips, not life-safety equipment. If you're clipping gear, keys or a bag, that's fine. If your task involves climbing, lifting people or fall protection, you need a certified, load-rated carabiner with a stated strength and a proper locking gate.
