Why a confined space harness matters
Entry is easy. Retrieval is the part that has to be planned. A confined space harness is a full body harness with attachment points set up for retrieval, typically shoulder points that connect to a winch or rescue line so a worker can be raised vertically through a tight opening, kept upright, without snagging. Add dorsal fall arrest for the descent and you have a harness built around the realities of tanks, pits, vaults and manholes. If the rescue plan says winch, the harness has to be built for it.
How our confined space harnesses are different
We are an independent height safety specialist, so we stock confined space harnesses from trusted brands, chosen for real entry and rescue work rather than one supplier's catalogue.
Every harness meets the relevant Australian Standards, with the retrieval attachment points that vertical entry demands. And because confined space is core work for us, we can help you match the harness to your tripod, winch and rescue plan so the whole system works together.
Build the entry system: gas detection, davits and tripods, all harnesses and rescue equipment.
How to choose the right confined space harness for you
- Retrieval points first. Vertical entry through a manhole needs shoulder attachment points that keep you upright on the winch. Confirm the harness has them.
- Match the system. The harness works with your tripod, winch and line. Choose it as part of the retrieval setup, not on its own.
- Fit and comfort. Confined space work is cramped and physical. A harness that fits properly and adjusts easily gets worn properly.
- Rescue duty. If the same harness serves your rescue team, check it suits both entry work and casualty retrieval.
FAQs about Confined Space Harnesses
What harness do I need for confined space entry?
A full body harness with retrieval attachment points, usually at the shoulders, that connect to your winch or rescue line for vertical retrieval. Dorsal fall arrest covers the descent.
What makes a confined space harness different from a standard harness?
The retrieval points. A standard fall arrest harness protects a fall, but a confined space harness is also built to be lifted by, keeping you upright and compact through a tight opening.
