Why an arborist carabiner matters
An arborist clips and unclips more than almost anyone at height. Climbing line, lanyard, hitch systems, gear loops, the connections change all day, in conditions that clog and wear lesser gates. That is why tree climbing carabiners lean toward auto locking gates, commonly triple action, that lock themselves every time, with keylock noses that will not snag rope or hitch cord, and builds that keep working dirty. Life support connections also need to stay separate from rigging. Different jobs, different hardware.
How our arborist carabiners are different
We are an independent height safety specialist, so we stock arborist carabiners from the brands tree crews actually trust, chosen for climbing systems and hard daily use.
Every connector is rated and certified, with kN values marked on the body, across gate types and shapes suited to climbing lines, lanyards and hitch setups. And we will tell you straight where a connector belongs, on the climbing system or in the rigging kit.
Kit the climb out: triple action carabiners, prusik and hitch cord and arborist helmets.
How to choose the right arborist carabiner for you
- Gate security. For life support connections, auto locking gates, often triple action, are the arborist standard. The gate locks itself no matter how busy the climb gets.
- Nose profile. A keylock nose clips clean off rope, hitch cord and gear without snagging, which matters when you clip all day.
- Climbing or rigging. Keep life support connectors for life support. Rigging and lowering gear is its own hardware with its own ratings.
- Shape for the system. Match the shape to the connection, hitch systems and pulleys often sit best on an oval, lanyard ends may suit a D. Ask us if unsure.
FAQs about Arborist Carabiners
What carabiners do arborists use?
Rated auto locking carabiners, commonly triple action, for climbing lines, lanyards and hitch systems, with shapes chosen for how each connection loads.
Why do tree climbers prefer triple action gates?
Because the gate locks itself every time and needs three deliberate movements to open, which protects against accidental opening through a long, busy climb.
