Why red rope
Rope colour is a working tool. In rope access and rescue, crews often colour-code their lines, one colour for the working line, another for the backup, so there is never confusion about which rope is which. Red is a strong, high-visibility choice that stands out against most structures and backgrounds. Colour coding also helps separate teams, tasks and rope ages across a gear store.
Build your rope systems: static rope, black rope, rope and cordage and rope bags.
How to choose the right red rope for you
- Rope type first. Low stretch for access, rescue and abseiling, utility rope for general work. Colour comes after the construction.
- Diameter. Match the rope to your descender and devices, same as any line.
- Length. Buy for the drop plus working slack. Many ropes can be supplied cut to length.
- Plan your colour system. If red is your working line or your backup line, keep it consistent across the crew so the colour actually means something.
