Why a pole strap matters
Pole work has a problem that a standard lanyard does not solve.
You need to be held against the pole while you work, at whatever height you climb to. A pole strap encircles the pole and connects to both sides of your harness or belt, supporting you in position. Adjustable straps let you set the length as the pole narrows towards the top. For linesmen, telecom and timber pole work, this is the tool that makes hands-free work possible.
How our pole straps are different
We are an independent height safety specialist, so we stock pole straps chosen for real pole work, from brands we trust, in fixed and adjustable lengths.
Every strap meets the relevant Australian Standard for work positioning, AS/NZS 1891, with hard-wearing materials and adjusters that hold where you set them. You get gear built for the job
How to choose the right pole strap for you
- Fixed or adjustable. Adjustable straps let you change length as the pole tapers, which suits most pole climbing. Fixed suits a set working diameter.
- Length. Match it to the pole sizes you work on, with room to adjust.
- Material. Look for durable webbing or rope that stands up to pole wear and weather.
- Full system. A pole strap supports your position. Make sure you also have proper fall protection in place.
FAQs about Pole Straps
What is a pole strap?
A strap that wraps around a pole and connects to both sides of your harness or belt, holding you in position so you can work hands-free while climbing.
Is a pole strap the same as a fall arrest lanyard?
No. A pole strap supports your work position. It is not designed to arrest a free fall on its own, so use it alongside proper fall protection.
Fixed or adjustable, which should I choose?
Adjustable straps suit most pole climbing because you can shorten them as the pole narrows. Fixed straps suit a consistent working diameter.
What work are pole straps used for?
Pole climbing in trades like power line work, telecommunications and timber pole work, where you need to be held to the pole to work hands-free.
